While the goal of our clinic is to deliver life-enhancing results, it always is helpful if you know just what kind of tools we use to achieve those results. Creating personal programs, delivering healthier looking skin with the latest in skin care technologies and other treatments as well as finding the right solutions for each individual that walks in our door is not magic. It is the result of long hours spent studying the latest techniques, attending seminars and lectures on the newest findings and then investing in the technology we think will offer you the best solutions.
The world of skincare and anti-ageing medicine has gone through enormous changes in the last decade or so. We have taken so much that we have learned from other science and health fields and found ways to apply that newly found knowledge to helping men and women take charge of their bodies. But it takes more than simply knowledge, it takes using new tools to deliver the results we all are looking to find. At Shine Clinic we stand behind the tools and techniques we have discovered are truly partners with you and our health professionals here to restore and renew on a daily basis.
There are many different tools and techniques available out there for a clinic like Shine to choose from, but some really stand out. From IPL and radiofrequency skin care to ultrasound for contouring our body, here are some of the tools we use at Shine Clinic that are at the core of our various treatments.
Refirme – This therapeutic technique uses a combination of bi-polar radiofrequency and infrared heat to boost collagen production. It does this by heating up the cells at the deep dermal level, targeting the collagen and elastin specifically. When it does this the elastin tightens up so that skin becomes firmer and increased collagen creates a more moisture-laden skin for diminishing fine wrinkles as well as giving skin a healthier glow. Elos – This new technology platform uses a combination of bi-polar radio frequency (RF) and optical energy or intense pulsed light (IPL) to deliver facial rejuvenation without the pain of single laser techniques. It releases the optical pulse and the energy pulse simultaneously. The dermis layer of the skin is first heated by the absorbed light and then streamed with electrical energy. The light energy reduces the burning risk and the RF creates a more focused energy. This synergistic paring of the two energies allows a longer treatment time giving better results with each application than with IPL alone. Read more about Elos treatment
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) – This treatment uses a combination of LED or IPL light in conjunction with radio frequency. It can be used on virtually any area of the body. When applied, it heats and destroys only the damaged cells in the skin, leaving normal cells unaffected. Further information on PDT treatment
IPL – Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is used in conjunction with radiofrequency in several treatments including facial rejuvenation and hair removal. In both of these treatments the higher intensity of pulsed light when combined with the broader reach of radiofrequency energy produces changes at a cellular level quicker and with less pain. Radiofrequency A relatively new direction for skin care, when radio energy is released into the dermal layer of the skin, it uses the skin tissues resistance to create thermal energy that heats the targeted dermal skin layers. Damage to cells is minimal and melanin is not damaged in the process, when used alone. However, when combined with IPL treatment, which targets pigment, it is not effective for dark skin. This allows RF to be used more widely on darker skin tones where other treatments may be either inefficient or damaging. It is used in both our Refirme and Elos treatments.
Ultrasound/Med Contour – This specialised use of dual low-frequency ultrasound was created to allow targeting of specific areas of the body for deep cellulite and fat removal. The ultrasound used in this device targets treatment areas to create body contouring in a localised area. The ultrasound, when it reaches the target area, disrupts the fat cell membrane releasing the fatty acids into the surrounding fluid. The fatty acids are cleared by the lymphatic system and taken back to the liver for removal. The result is reduced localised fat and cellulite and increased skin tone and elasticity. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) – Although more of a technique than a tool, PRP has emerged as a real game changer by the fact it uses our own blood to enhance and enrich our skin’s collagen, elasticity and hyaluronic acid levels. The client’s own blood is run through a centrifuge where it is separated into red blood cells, platelet rich plasma (PRP) and platelet poor plasma. The PRP contains a high level of growth factors and is injected into the treatment area. This stimulates the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Once the exclusive purview of sports doctors, this had become a safe and reliable way to improve the moisture content of the skin and create younger healthier skin. Discover more about PRP here.
