In the field of non-surgical cosmetic treatments, the possibilities are expanding all the time. New techniques are forever improving outcomes and new products are allowing us to treat more cosmetic concerns. When previously surgery was the only answer, now we have non-surgical alternatives involving less risk, downtime and cost.
The newest tool in the cosmetic injectors toolbox is a product that can be used to treat the fat pocket we call the double chin. This product is TGA approved and that means it meets criteria for effectiveness as well as safety. The product is injected into the fat under the chin and fat cells are permanently dissolved. A minimum of two treatments are needed about 8 weeks apart. Results appear gradually over this time.
For some people a double chin can be genetic and even when thin, they can carry extra fat in this area. Weight gain can also result in more noticeable fullness under the chin. When this area is treated, the chin and jawline look more defined and it can years off your age. If this treatment is combined with filler to the chin and/or jawline, it can completely rejuvenate the lower face. I will talk more about this combination in the next newsletter.
A suitable candidate for this treatment has mild to moderate fullness under the chin. It is important to note that this is not a treatment for saggy skin in this area. In fact, if the skin is too loose or saggy, treatment will make this worse. A consultation is needed to assess suitability.
Jenny was the perfect candidate for this procedure, being quite thin but still having a little pocket of fat present. She has had an excellent result after her first treatment but will have one more when she gets back from holiday.
