Using appropriate home skin care products is also essential to keep the skin looking its best. Different skin types and people of different ages will need to use different products on the skin. What is good for one skin type may be very irritating for another. This is where it is essential to get some professional advice about the best products for your skin type following a skin analysis by a qualified dermal therapist. We would suggest making a complimentary consultation at Shine for a skin assessment and personalised recommendations.
The next important step to improving skin is to treat imperfections already present and to improve skin quality by stimulating collagen production and cell turnover as well as reducing pore size. There are many different types of facial treatments available to improve skin quality. Treatable problems include pigmentation, redness, broken capillaries, skin laxity and textural problems such as wrinkles and acne scarring. In today’s busy world, we want maximum improvement with minimum discomfort and downtime.
At Shine, the premier treatment to address all of the above problems is the Elos Triniti series. As the name suggests, Triniti involves three different treatments in one session.
The first treatment is photo rejuvenation using combined IPL and RF energy to correct colour imperfections such as abnormal pigmentation, redness and broken capillaries.
This is then followed by Refirme, using gentle pulsed infrared light and RF energy to provide deep dermal heating of collagen fibres resulting is some immediate contraction and tightening of the skin as well as some longer term collagen stimulation.
The third part of the Triniti treatment is called Sublative RF rejuvenation. As the name suggests, this resurfacing treatment uses RF (radio frequency) energy and treats the deeper skin layers. This unique delivery method utilises a single use applicator tip to treat skin in a matrix, or grid-like, fashion with minimal surface effects and maximum effects at deeper levels. This results in less downtime for the patient, less surface skin removal and improved effects in the deeper tissues when compared to traditional fractional lasers. 200 pulses are applied with each applicator tip and the depth and power can be varied to treat more or less delicate or damaged skin. Sublative RF improves fine lines, skin laxity, scarring, including acne scarring, textural irregularities, enlarged pores and improves skin tone.
A Triniti treatment at Shine generally takes about 2 1/2 hours. We prepare the skin with topical anaesthetic creams initially and then again half way through the procedure to ensure the process causes no discomfort. Following a treatment, there may be some minor swelling, redness and heat in the skin. Fine dots in a matrix pattern seal over immediately and will fade quickly over a few days. There is no weeping of the skin as occurs with fractional laser treatments. This minor redness and these fine dots can be hidden under a good quality mineral makeup.
The best results are achieved with a series of three Triniti sessions spaced at least one month apart. Although, this can vary depending on the degree of sun damage present. The treatment brings great benefits not just to the appearance, but also to the health of the skin. Each treatment improves the skin a little more and will stimulate the production of more collagen that will occur over the following weeks to months. Further maintenance treatments every 6-12 months are an excellent idea to continue seeing ongoing benefits and slow down skin ageing.
Of course, each of the three treatments that make up the Triniti can be performed as stand alone treatments. Sometimes there may be only one concern to address, eg pigmentation. In this case a course of IPL treatments may be the best option.
Winter is the best time of year to do any of these skin treatments. It is much easier to cover up and stay out of the sun.
